About the organization
Community Eye Care and Research Center (CECRC) was established in December 1999 and started its services in August 2000 in Rangpur to fight against blindness and low vision in this region. CECRC is a reasonably equipped 30 bed eye hospital with accessible infrastructural facilities for the people with disabilities. The founder of the hospital is Md Ferdous Alam Mukul and it is licensed under (1) The Social Welfare Department of the Government, (2) NGO Affairs Bureau and (3) Directorate General of Health Services. There are 2 ophthalmic surgeon and consultant, 2 medical officers, 14 ophthalmic assistants and 22 other staff members in the hospital.
The activities of CECRC are: Eye care services, dispensing of medicine and spectacle free of cost, awareness raising on health, gender, disability, celebration of national and international days (such as: world sight day, world white cane day), distribution of Corona protection items, cost-free eye surgeries, training on ophthalmic services. There is also a facility of periodic patient screening program at distant and rural areas where eye treatments are not available.
