About the organization
Short Introduction
The association was founded in 1958 by the first graduates of Istanbul Imam Hatip School. The association had been fruitful on bringing together the graduates and members of the Imam Hatip School. In the late 1960s the name was changed to “Association of Istanbul Imam and Hatip School Alumni”. After the 1980 Revolution, by an amendment in accord to the bylaws, with the desire of gathering all of Turkey’s Imam Hatip Alumnies under their association, the word “Istanbul” was removed from the association title. As a short name, the word “ÖNDER”, which is the Turkish version of “Imam”, was added to the name of the association and it became ÖNDER Association of İmam and Hatip Alumni.
